No posts for awhile

I appreciate everyone who visits my blog!!  If you are a faithful reader, you may have noticed that I have not posted in a couple of weeks.  The first week, I was on vacation and had a wonderful time with family!  This week, we are dealing with the aftermath of Tropical Storm Irene here in the Schoharie Valley.

My family is safe.  All of our church family  and our friends are safe.  We do not know of any loss of life in our valley but the destruction is unbelievable!!   Many in the area have lost their homes and some have lost everything but their lives.

We had 15 people in our house for a few days with 2 of those days without power.  But GOD IS GOOD and we were all fine.  We had a real scare when we got a false report of the dam breaking.  We all got out of the house in less than 2 minutes!

Our church is a total loss.  There was 6' of water in our auditorium.  That would be more than halfway up the upper windows that you can see behind the power line.

Soooo, crafting does not seem quite as important right now.  If you know the Lord, I would appreciate your prayer.  My husband is the pastor and really needs wisdom for the days ahead.
Thank you!!
Debbie

Anniversary card for my hubby

Today is our 23rd anniversary and every year it gets better!!!   With that thought it mind, I made this card.  It is not for any challenge or contest... just for him!!  ;-)

The sentiment is computer generated, and the heart cut is from Storybook.

He was going to get me 23 roses, but I am going to Canada on Monday to my parents cottage, so I would not really enjoy them.  I told him he could get me 23 chocolates instead, so he did!!!
Lindt is my favorite!!!  (He got me many more than 23!!!!!)

So I will not be card making this next week... hopefully I'll be water skiing!!!  :)
See you when I get back!

Thank you "berry" much!

There are only a couple of hours left Tacky Tuesday's challenge, so I'm just making it in time!  This month it had to have a berry cut or svg and the word "berry" in the sentiment.

It's that time of year... Back to school

We actually won't start until almost (or even the day after) Labor Day, so we still have a couple of weeks of our summer left! :)  The joys of home schooling!!

But I know some places have already started or are starting this week, so with great sympathy for them, here is my 'back to school' project!  Altered note books are fun, easy, and the possibilities are endless!!   I'll give this to my 10th grader for one of her subjects.

"fishy" note card

I love to do challenges and do as many as I can.  If I don't do a challenge, it is because I don't have time.  With some of them, I know immediately what to do for it.  For others, I have to think awhile.  I trying to say that when I don't do one of my 'normal' challenges, it is not because I don't want to do it.  All that, to say this... when I read that Opus Gluei wants no words...  ??!!???  I was speechless!  Really???  How am I supposed to make a card without a sentiment?????

Well, I did it!!  I went looking through my digital stamps and this colored fish digi from Doodle Pantry just jumped out at me because it perfectly matched the colors of DCWV Tahiti Beach stack that I've been using.  The lashes and lips make her look like a girl, so I figured flowers are ok.  My circle and scalloped punches, ribbon, a little bling and we are in business!

So what do you think?   All it needs is a sentiment, right?  Just kidding!!! ;-)

Thanks for looking!!!

Thank you card

Most of my thank you cards tend to be frilly or flowery, but I decided to go a little more 'wild' with this one.  Yeah, I know I need work on my wildness!  :)

Clean and simple male birthday card

I love to add ribbon, buttons, brads, and bows to my cards so male cards are always difficult.    But I finally have discovered that clean and simple works and is easy, too.  And at least I got to tie a bow with the baker's twine! :)

Birthday Sundaes - birthday card (with birthday wording, as always)

~Kraft paper cut 8x9 folded to make a 4x9 card

"for my teacher" note card

I know, I know!! It is kind of odd for a home schooling mother to make a card for a teacher!   I will either sell it at a craft show this fall or let my kids use it for their Sunday School teacher.  Or let my kids write me a nice note!  ;)  The digi stamps are from Doodle Pantry and I got the "Book Ants" set for the books and the reading sentiments but this one fit better on my card.  :)

Challenges:
Mojo Monday 203 - sketch
BBTB2 - "Locker Talk" or any other 'back to school' cut
Cricut Cardz #86- "Tuitti Fruitti"

'To everything there is a season' encouraging note card

Everyone of us can use encouragement now and then!  I hope this card will be a help to someone going through a rough time to help them realize they will come through!!

This follows the Mojo Monday 202 sketch and gives the positive thoughts asked for over at Getting Cricky with K Andrew

"Wishing you a 'tweet' day"

The devotional at Stampin' Sisters in Christ this week came from Ps. 148:7-10 where it talks about how everything praises the Lord!  And we should, too!  All creatures and even the earth itself will praise Him if we fail to do so!!   I hope you know the Lord and praise Him this week!!

They asked for any creature, great or small, on our projects.  I chose these cute birds (they were freebies at Doodle Pantry)  because birds sing every morning!!

This is much nicer IRL!  The colors are more muted and it is really cute!  IMHO!!  :)

"reeled in another birthday" card

I have discovered the clue to a man's card...  masculine images!!  Should have figured that one out sooner!!  I got the "Reel 'Em In" set from Doodle Pantry and love it!!   This card was so easy to put together, too!  My husband loves to fish (though he doesn't get time to do it much) so this set will be greatly used!

This will be submitted to the Doodle Pantry Challenge DPDC15

New additions to our family!!

One of the local shelters had a Feline Fest this weekend so we found 3 month old brother and sister kittens to add to our family!  Patch has the black on him and Pixie is the other one. (not sure what to call her coloring)

all ready to leave the shelter

cuddles in the car

she's quite shy

having fun in his new home

The kids love them already.  Our other cat, Peanut, is not so thrilled!!
he'll get used to them eventually

The next few days should be fun as they adjust!  :-D
