I'd rather be skiing!! -TMS #336

*** Click HERE to visit my blogversary + giveaway post!!! ***

Happy Tuesday to you!  It's time for Tuesday Morning Sketches!!  I've got a card today that could not have been more perfectly timed.  Take a look, then I'll explain.

Our family loves to ski!  We are not experts by any stretch of the imagination, but we love it. [In the spirit of total truthfulness... my son does not ski... he snowboards.;) ]  Sadly, last year, even with all the snow we received, it never worked in our schedule to go skiing.  Soooo sad!!!
But... our wonderful church family gave my husband and me a get-away of 3 days at Smuggler's Notch in VT and we were scheduled to head over there today! We were scheduled to go today....  until a stomach virus and severe sinus issues hit our home.  So... not today!  :(  Hoping and planning for next week.  We're looking forward to time away {just the two of us} and to hitting the slopes!

Here's our wonderful sketch by Melissa...  another of our favorites from 2015... this week it is my choice...  *I LOVE this sketch!  Since it debuted last March, I have used it many, many times!!

My DP is Recollections Cozy Lodge and my image is FTHS Rather Be Skiing Snowman.  He is colored with my Spectrum Noir markers (DR7, OR2, EB7, EB2, GG1, GG2, BT1).
He was cut out with Spellbinders A2 Matting Basics A and inked with TH antique linen.  The snowflake is one of Sweet 'n Sassy's Small Snowflakes dies.  Brown hemp bow finishes it off.

I am sponsoring this week with a snowman stamp set, soooooo... we'd love you to make your card a winter theme, too, if you'd like.  :)    Play along to win this Hampton Art "Let It Snow" stamp and die set!

Happy 14th birthday!

*** Click HERE to visit my blogiversary + giveaway post!!! ***

Hello!  Are you trying to keep warm in your part of the country?  Or maybe you/re preparing for the huge storm this weekend in the mid-Atlantic/Northeast?   Not me.  We're pretty much normal temps but, sadly, barely any snow. :(
If you get the snow, go play in it and think of me! ;)

I've got my son's birthday card to show you.  A question and then an explanation...
Have you ever played "Punch Buggy" or "Slug Bug"?
My husband and I and one of our daughters went to Brazil last June to work with some of our missionaries.  We had such a wonderful and blessed time!!  Driving across/around Sao Paulo can literally take hours, so we played games in the van.  There are LOTS of VW  Beetles there.  The Brazilian name is "Fusca."  Sooooo... when we saw a Fusca, we'd yell "Fusca." (But we did not punch anyone!)  We came home and when I saw a Beetle, I said it and we had to explain to the rest of the family about it.  So we don't play Punch Buggy; we play Fusca now.  My son is always on the lookout for them.  It's become quite a joke and has taken on a life of it's own, so I used a yellow Fusca -actually 14 of them- on his card.  (A yellow Fusca is worth 2 pts!)

Here it is...

We did have to tell him that he could NOT bring this card into the van as we drive and count these! LOL

Supplies...
~ Classic Bug & Gas Can colored image from Doodle Pantry (the sentiment it DP, too, but I forget which set it's from)
~computer "edited" sentiment
~baker's twine
~Studio Calico Story Time DP
~Recollection adhesive "rain drops"

Seize the Birthday - anything goes birthday and/or CAS topping (I went anything goes)

French horn Christmas

*** Click HERE to go to my Blogiversary post + Giveaway!! ***

Am I making Christmas cards again already?  Yep!  I sent every one I made in 2015 so have started on those for 2016.

I love music!  My family loves music.  There is almost always music playing at our home, we love to sing, I play the piano, and my kids all play an instrument.  My oldest daughter plays the French horn - which is my favorite instrument aside from the piano.   [I realize that their horns are not exactly like a regular French horn, but if you love horns, you need to listen to Vienna Horns.]

All that chatter because my card has a French horn...

My image and sentiment are Doodle Pantry's COLOR French Horn.  Beautiful set!!  My DP is Recollections Cozy Lodge.  I used Spellbinders Petite Ovals and Labels 18.

Doodle Pantry is sponsoring today's challenge over at Craftyhazelnut's Christmas Challenge with a theme of Christmas, obviously, but also "use red."   Please play along!  Remember that if you use a digi, you can also enter Doodle Pantry's Ants In My Pants Digital Challenge 13 HERE.

Challenges...
jingle belles JB:16:01 - something old, something new (Image is "old" and had been printed waiting to be used for well over a year!  Paper is new.)
Word Art Wednesday #217 - anything goes family friendly
Creative Knockouts #123 - anything goes
Simon Says Wednesday - something new (paper is new)

♪ ♫ Happy Blogiversary to me!!! ♫ ♪

Wow!  Five years ago on Sunday (Jan 10), I started posting my blog.  My first craft post was some Christmas thank you cards.  (Not my best work! :-/ )
It's been such a fun and wonderful 5 years!  I know I have grown as a crafter [one look at that first post confirms that!!! ;) ] and I've enjoyed being a part of the online crafting community.  I've been so blessed to have "met" so many of you wonderful crafters and I'm so thankful for all of you!!

So let's celebrate!   I've got some goodies to share, so leave me a comment for your chance to win these crafting items.  {Please include your email or blog address so that if random.org chooses you, I'll be able to contact you.}

Would you love to receive this???  (I'm keeping it to flat items so I can ship it in a padded envelope and be able to ship anywhere in the world without it costing an arm and a leg!! )

This "prize" includes:
~ Spellbinders Labels Four die
~ Chalkboard stickers
~ Recollections paper bows
 ~ Colorbok adhesive flourishes
~ Spritz baker's twine

~ Crystal Stickers adhesive pink mosaic squares

...and I may add more to that!

I've got a possible second prize up for grabs, too.  My number of followers has been in the 190's for along time, so if we can reach 200 by January 31, you will all have a second chance to win.

**I want to say that it's not about the numbers for me.  Like I said, I have been so blessed to have "met" so many new friends online.  Some of you faithfully visit and comment and I want you to know that it means so much to me!  Thank you!!!!!  You know who you are! :)  And I have been inspired and challenged in ways I never thought possible.  Again, thank you!!!!

But prizes are fun, so here's my let's-see-if-I-can-reach-200-followers prize...

~Sizzix A2 embossing folders "Damask Set"

****Don't you think that 2 prizes should equal 2 chances?  I do!
So you can leave 2 comments... one congratulating me (sorry that sounds so arrogant!!) and one telling me if you are a long-time follower or a new follower.

Let it snow - TMS #333

Happy Tuesday to you!  It's time for Tuesday Morning Sketches!!

Yes, I really do mean "let it snow"!!!  After such a warm fall and start to winter, we are having a few very cold days, so now it can snow! ;)

The color is a little better and more true-to-life in this next pic but it's a little blurry.  :/

This fun snowman is saying "let it snow" and I agree with him!   Isn't he cute??

My DP is Recollections Winter Frost.  The snowflake swirl die is CCDesigns Winter Wonderland and the snowflake is from Sweet n Sassy small snowflakes die set.  They are cut out of Splice specialty paper metallic silver.  (I got a stack of this a few years ago and it's about gone.  So sad!  It cuts like butter with dies or my Cricut.) The image is Winter Circle Sentiments - let it snow from Bugaboo... our sponsor for this week's challenge!  Play along for your chance to win 7 Bugaboo images!!!   The image and frame were cut out with Spellbinders Standard Circles.  I used a Gelly Roll glitter pen on the snowflakes and his hat.

For the next few weeks, we are revisiting some of our favorite sketches from 2015.  This week we are using Jessi's choice from last year...

Challenges...
A Snowflake Promise #13 - anything goes winter/Christmas
Crafty Friends #22 - use something new (my DP and snowflake swirl die are new)
Simon Says Stamp Monday - something new (my DP and snowflake swirl die are new)
Tuesday Throwdown #275 - winter wonderland

Being thankful in 2016 - AIMPDC 13

Happy New Year to you!!  It's hard to believe that another year has come and gone.  May the Lord bless you in 2016!

It's the first of the month, so it's time for Doodle Pantry's Ants in My Digital Pantry Challenge 13!!   Our theme is always "Anything Digital Goes" so check out all the details at the DP blog and come play along!!

My card was for a very special man!!   Have you ever heard of Honor Flight?   It's an opportunity for a WWII vet to go to Washington, DC, with a guardian to visit the WWII Memorial and some other military sites there.  Some Korea and Vietnam vets are able to go, as well.  You can click on the name to go to the website and learn about it.

They have a "mail call" for the vets.  A couple of years ago, some of my friends and I made many cards to send to the vets on a flight but this recent one was extra special because a very dear friend of ours was able to go on that flight and this is the card I made for him.  I'm so thankful for him and all veterans who have served!!

The sentiment is from USA Freedom...

My paper is from one of my very first DCWV paper packs.  The main panel is embossed with CB Stars.  The border punch is MS.  The die is Momenta.  A few star brads finished it off.

Thanks so much for stopping by and have a very Happy New Year!!!
